§ Mr. Roweasked the Secretary of State for Defence what was the cost at 1986 prices of the Nimrod aircraft currently in service with the armed services (a) when they were first commissioned and (b) at the present day, including the costs of any updating or improvements.
§ Mr. Archie Hamilton[pursuant to his reply, 17 December 1986, c. 597]: I assume that my hon. Friend is referring to the Nimrod Maritime Reconnaissance (MR) Mk2 aircraft. These were converted from the Nimrod MR Mk1 aircraft, the original cost of which is not readily available and could not be provided except at disproportionate expense.
