§ Mr. HowardThe powers vested in the inspectors under section 177 of the Financial Services Act can be exercised in respect of any person—and thus any civil servant—whom the inspectors consider is or may be able to give information concerning a contravention of the Company Securities (Insider Dealing) Act. It is for the inspectors to judge whether the details of any individual's dealings may be relevant to the investigation.
