asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what discussions his Department has had with the South-West Thames regional health authority about the method and timing of the disposal of surplus land at Brookwood hospital; and if he will make a statement.

The South West Thames regional health authority is being advised on the sale of surplus land at Brookwood hospital by town planning experts and marketing agents. Exploratory discussions have been held with several prospective purchasers and offers are under consideration. There have been no discussions between the Department and the authority about the method and timing of this disposal.
