§ Mr. FreemanThe Armed Services YTS was expanded on 1 January 1987 to offer one or two year engagements in line with the Manpower Services Commission YTS. Intakes within that total are dependent upon applicants successfully meeting MSC YTS eligibility criteria and normal Service recruitment standards. Places are awarded on merit. In 1986–87 there are some 2,000 places available and vacancies still exist.
