§ Mr. Austin Mitchellasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what informaion he has as to how many merchant banks have offered inducements to individuals and bodies corporate to buy the shares of 748W companies involved in takeover battles in the knowledge that the cost would be recovered directly or indirectly from the companies whose shares had been acquired.
§ Mr. HowardSpecific allegations have been made in only one case. These allegations are being investigated.
