§ Mr. Cartwrightasked the Minister for the Arts what consultations he is having with representatives of library interests in discharge of his functions under section 1 of the Public Libraries and Museums Act 1964, to ensure that the Government's proposed code of practice under section 4 of the Local Government Act 1986 does not inhibit the provision of a comprehensive service of political manifestos and other politically related material by public libraries.
