asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will publish in the Official Report the percentage unemployment rate in the Aberdeen travel-to-work area for 1979 and the current figure.

On 11 December 1986, the latest date for which information is available, the unemployment rate in the Aberdeen travel-to-work area was 8.9 per cent. In December 1979 the corresponding figure was 3.7 per cent. The figures are not comparable due to the various changes which have taken place in the compilation of the statistics.
