§ Mr. Raynsfordasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer, pursuant to the answer to the question from the right hon. Member for Bethnal Green and Stepney (Mr. Shore) on 1 December 1986, Official Report, colum 470, if he will estimate the average weekly earnings after tax, national insurance contributions and child benefit at (a) current prices and (b) constant April 1986 prices of (i) a single man, (ii) a married man, (iii) a married man with two children under 11 years, and (iv) a single woman, all with earnings in the highest 5 per cent. of income levels.
§ Mr. Norman LamontEstimates of the levels of earnings for the top 5 per cent. of earners are not published. The information in the table is based on estimates of these levels derived from distributions of earnings published in the relevant new earnings surveys. Earning levels are for men or women as appropriate paid at adult rates with pay unaffected by absence. Taxpayers are asumed to have no reliefs or allowances other than the appropriate personal allowances.
