§ Q177. Sir David Priceasked the Prime Minister if she will take steps to consolidate the 250 different statutory provisions relating to the legal duties and responsibilities of directors of public companies in a single measure.
§ The Prime MinisterMuch of the law relating to the duties and responsibilities of company directors has recently been consolidated into the Companies Act 1985, the Insolvency Act 1986 and the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986. The remaining provisions cover a wide area of activity and further consolidation would be inappropriate.
