The Department has provided five weighbridges in the west midlands traffic area. A further site is under construction. In the 12 months ending 30 June 1986, 5,974 United Kingdom registered vehicles were weighed by west midlands traffic examiners and some local authority trading standards staff. Of these, 934 vehicles were overloaded. Of 348 foreign vehicles weighed, 25 were overloaded.
