HC Deb 09 February 1987 vol 110 cc104-5W
Mrs. McCurley

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he proposes to make any changes to current defence cash limits for 1986–87.

Mr. Younger

Yes. The following changes are being made, subject to parliamentary approval of the necessary spring supplementary estimate.

£000s
Class 1 Current cash limit Increase/decrease Revised cash limit
I, 1 7,082,974 1-6,009 7,076,965
I, 4 1,473,831 2+ 15,000 1,488,831
I, 5 430,345 3-15,000 415,345
1 Reduced provision.
2 Transferred from I, 5.
3 Transferred from I, 4.

The decrease in provision mainly reflects savings in Falklands costs. Other changes allow for transfers within the Ministry of Defence cash limit block to reflect the expected pattern of expenditure and for a number of small inter-departmental transfers. The net effect of all these changes is a reduction in public expenditure of £7 million.
