§ Mr. Kennedyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he has any plans to increase the current level o research into the effects of the irradiation of food; if he ha any plans to enhance the level of public awareness on this matter; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mrs. Currie[pursuant to her reply, 2 February 1987, c. 551]: The Advisory Committee on Irradiated and Novel Foods considered comments receive on its report at December meeting. The Committee is now preparing it advice which will be put to Health and Agriculture Ministers. Ministers will then be in a position to give full consideration to the report. The important matters raise by the hon. Member will be looked at in greater detail a that time.
