§ Mr. John MacKayRegional and islands councils have specific statutory duties in connection with the registration and inspection of voluntary and private residential homes and other accommodation provided under the Social Work (Scotland) Act 1968. Health boards have similar duties in connection with private nursing homes. The authorities concerned in both cases are expected to find the funds they require for these purposes from within general resources (including income from registration fees in the case of health boards).
