§ Mr. Meacherasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what information he has about the prevalence of (a) cerebral palsy and (b) other disabilities for children born in each of the last five years.
§ Mrs. CurrieInformation is not held by the Department on the incidence of cerebral palsy, but a study is currently being conducted on the standardisation of the recording and reporting of this condition. As regards other disabilities, I refer the hon. Member to the various OPCS publications available in the Library, including the "Monitoring on Congenital Malformation, Register (General Class)" up to 31 March 1984 AF/84/19, "Register of Blind and Partially Sighted" up to 31 March 1982 AF/82/7, "Register of Deaf and Hard of Hearing" up to 31 March 1983 AF/83/20.
