HC Deb 02 February 1987 vol 109 c536W
Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the average annual cost of storing the following foodstuffs per tonne in European Economic Countries intervention foodstores: beef, butter and cereals, respectively.

Mr. John MacKay

Figures are not available for storage costs incurred in other member states. For the United Kingdom, the average cost per annum for storing beef is £310 per tonne (bone-in) and £141 per tonne (boneless). The equivalent costs for butter and cereals are £81.50 per tonne and £12·50 per tonne respectively.
