asked the Paymaster General by how much in numerical and percentage terms unemployment in the European Economic Community altered during the British presidency.

Figures for the European Community are not yet published for the whole period of the British presidency, which ended on 31 December 1986. In the first four months from the end of June 1986 to October 1986, the seasonally adjusted level of registered unemployment increased by 18,000 to 16.079 million—a rise of 0.1 per cent.
