HC Deb 18 December 1987 vol 124 c812W
Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what assessments he has made of the impact upon road safety of the construction of a public weighbridge, off the B5127 Mold-Ewloe road, adjacent to the A494 roundabout at Ewloe, Deeside, and the consequent presence of heavy lorries; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

I have been asked to reply.

The weighbridge site at Ewloe roundabout is one of the network of sites that the Department is developing on the major road network and at the main ferry ports to enforce the United Kingdom legislation of vehicle weights. Sites are selected in consultation with the local planning and highway authorities and police so that all the relevant considerations such as road safety can be taken into account.
