Mr. Cope

Information about all entrants to the new job training scheme is collated by MSC on an area basis and the information is set out in the tables.

As for leavers from the scheme, a return from managing agents seeking information on the reasons for leaving was first requested in October. Data from this return are known to be incomplete so far and will not be comparable between areas and managing agents in all places. The data do not provide reliable information about job entry rates or other trainee destinations. This information will be gathered by an independent follow-up survey of all trainees early in the new year. Managing agent returns will be considered in the light of that information.

Notes:

1. Due to difficulties in data collection some of the information given above is incomplete.

2. In the main, new Job Training Scheme trainees undertake individually designed packages of training and practical experience, flexible in nature and of varying length. The Scheme does not offer courses as such and trainees may and do leave at any time to pursue other opportunities.
