To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will estimate the number of new jobs he expects to be created in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen in the financial year 1988–89.

Such estimates are not available. Overall prospects for the Scottish economy appear favourable and this can only be beneficial for employment prospects in the four cities referred to.
