To ask the Prime Minister if, in the light of the guidance in paragraph 9 of the note on the duties and responsibilities of civil servants in relation to Ministers and ministerial responsibility for the release of information to the media, she will review the relationship between her press office and the media.

To ask the Prime Minister if she will amend the note of guidance on the duties and responsibilities of civil servants so as to extend to retired civil servants the same privileges on the publication of memoirs as are extended to Ministers.

No. The principles and conventions governing publications by former members of the public services are as set out in part IV of the report of the Committee of Privy Councillors on Ministerial Memoirs, Cmnd. 6386.

To ask the Prime Minister what representations she has received about the difficulties confronting civil servants in the exercise of their duties to present Government policies and decisions, pursuant to paragraph 3 of the note of guidance on the duties and responsibilities of civil servants in relation to Ministers by the head of the Home Civil Service.
