HC Deb 10 December 1987 vol 124 c258W
Dr. David Clark

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will publish in theOfficial Report the details of consignments of lambs or sheep from the United Kingdom which were refused entry to Italy between 26 April and 31 December 1986.

Mr. Donald Thompson

For a period following 3 May 1986 food imports into Italy were temporarily disrupted while the Italian authorities worked out a certification system following the Chernobyl incident. That apart and aside from routine checks on matters such as health and welfare certification — which can occasionally cause temporary delays —I have no evidence to suggest that the Italian authorities have refused entry to our sheep or lambs.
