To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what plans he has to improve the Al from Wetherby to the Al motorway.

The White Paper "Policy for Roads in England: 1987" shows the schemes we have planned. They are:

Scheme Advancement of scheme
Wetherby Bypass Under construction
Wetherby to Dishforth Widening At public inquiry
Dishforth Interchange Improvement Work planned for start in 1988
Dishforth to Scotch Corner Carriageway Improvements Added to the Programme earlier this year
Dishforth to Scotch Corner Junction Improvement Phase I (Gatenby Lane Junction) Planned for start of construction in the period April 1989 to March 1991
Dishforth to Scotch Corner Junction Improvements Phase 2 Planned for start of construction in the period from April 1991 on-wards.
