To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what were(a) the categories of and (b) the numbers of individual doses of drugs administered to inmates at Her Majesty's prison Holloway in the latest available year.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what proportion of inmates in Her Majesty's prison Holloway are imprisoned for drug-related offences.

Mr. John Patten

Information on offences is not complete. However, on 30 June 1987 about 30 per cent. of the sentenced population of Holloway prison was known to be serving sentences for drugs offences.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the total cost of drugs dispensed to inmates of Her Majesty's prison Holloway.

Information in the form requested is not available. In the financial year 1986–87 the cost of procuring medicines and other pharmaceutical items, including small items of equipment for surgical and other medical uses, was £58,749.
