To ask the Secretary of State for Wales whether his Department has any plans to reorganise initial teacher training in Wales; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

There are no plans for reorganising provision in the public sector in Wales following my right hon. Friend's announcement on 30 September of entries up to 1989 to all six colleges with initial teacher training courses. Decisions about initial teacher training in the university sector are for the University Grants Committee.
