HC Deb 30 April 1987 vol 115 cc229-30W
53. Mr. Campbell-Savours

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what are his latest estimates of the full year cost of the personal equity plans.

Mr. Norman Lamont

The cost of the tax reliefs for personal equity plans will depend on the number of plans, the amounts invested, and the performance of the equities held. Costs in 1987–88 are expected to be about £25 million. Costs will build up in future years as investors take out more plans.
