§ Mr. Moynihanasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the ministerial group on women's issues has completed its review of the Government's response to the forward looking strategies for the advancement of women drawn up at the Nairobi conference which marked the end of the United Nations decade for women.
§ Mr. WaddingtonThe ministerial group has completed its review and I am placing copies of the group's report in the Library.
During the course of the review we looked at all areas of policy covered by the forward looking strategies, and the report brings together a great deal of information which will be helpful to women and their representatives organisations. We shall be making copies of the report widely available.
The report demonstrates that our policies fully comply with the spirit of the forward looking strategies, and indicates the strength of our commitment to equality of opportunity between men and women. We shall maintain our commitment and continue to develop our policies in the light of the goals laid down in the forward looking strategies.
