§ Mr. Peter BottomleyThe 150 miles of detailed checks cover some 36 separate sections of motorways constructed between 1958 and 1976. Continuous central reserve safety fences were not provided on motorways until after 1970, and were added to motorways constructed prior to this date under contracts arranged locally. The information8W requested is not readily available. It is estimated the sample should cover about 20 per cent. of central barrier construction contracts.
