§ Mr. Merchantasked the Secretarty of State for the Environment when he expects work on the construction of the new courts centre at Newcastle Quayside to start.
§ Mr. ChopeI have now authorised the Property Services Agency to invite tenders for the contract for the construction of a new major courts centre at Newcastle Quayside for the Lord Chancellor's Department. The building will provide 10 Crown courts, three county courts, together with associated accommodation. The construction is expected to take about three years to complete and will provide welcome employment for a substantial number of building workers in the area.
