asked the Prime Minister if the advice to Ministers about the conduct of their financial affairs has been revised to take account of the opportunities for purchasing shares in privatised companies.

There has been no change to the general guidelines to Ministers on the conduct of their financial affairs. It has been the usual practice to issue specific advice to Ministers about the purchase of shares in privatised companies, which were formerly in public ownership, at the time of flotation.
