§ Mr. GoodladThese incidents were independently assessed at the time by Her Majesty's nuclear installations inspectorate of the Health and Safety Executive. Descriptions of the incidents and the results of investigations which were carried out are given in the HSE's quarterly statements on nuclear incidents for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters of 1980 and the 3rd and 4th quarters of 1981, copies of which are in the Library of the House. Information was also given in the reply to the hon. Member for Meirionnydd Nant Conwy (Mr. Thomas) on 31 July 1980 at columns803–4.
Responsibilities for safety at nuclear sites falls by law on the operators of those sites. It is not the CEGB's practice to release the full record of investigations as to do so could affect the willingness of staff to participate fully and openly in inquiries.
