§ Mr. NewtonSpending on the National Health Service in Great Britain in 1986–87 is estimated to be £18,900 million, including the likely proceeds of National Health Service land sales. This represents an increase in real terms of 26 per cent. since 1978–79 and a growth in spending in real terms of 4.2 per cent. in the current year alone.
