§ Mr. Maddenasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will introduce legislation to confer powers on environmental health officers to close a school if they believe that any aspect of the school presents a serious health risk to pupils and staff; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. DunnWe have no plans at present to make changes in these arrangements. There are sufficient powers under existing legislation to prevent a school from being used if it is a danger to public health. My right hon. Friend is aware of problems in the Bradford area and will shortly be meeting a deputation.
