HC Deb 24 November 1986 vol 106 c72W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for Transport when he last discussed the issue of one-person operated buses with London Regional Transport board members.

Mr. David Mitchell

The use of one-person operated buses in London is an operational matter for London Regional Transport and its subsidiary London Buses Ltd.

Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for Transport how many representations have been received by his Department in the last two months over the use of one-person operated buses in London; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. David Mitchell

The Department has received 10 letters which refer to the use of one person operated buses in London. I understand that London buses carry over 3 million passengers each weekday, and that 72 per cent. of their buses are currently one person operated.
