§ 38. Mr. Chapmanasked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will make a statement on progress on international co-operation and exchange of information relating to civil nuclear power issues, following the Tokyo summit communiqué.
§ Mr. Peter WalkerSince the Tokyo summit communiqué was issued in May, the IAEA has adopted and opened for signature two new conventions on early notification of a nuclear accident, and mutual assistance in the case of a nuclear accident or radiological emergency. Fifty-eight states have already signed these conventions, including the United Kingdom.
The IAEA is considering a number of further proposals.
