HC Deb 24 November 1986 vol 106 c73W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make it his policy to make available transport supplementary grants to London boroughs requesting it for the purpose of altering London lorry ban road signs following his exempting of 65 miles of trunk roads from the ban; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

It is open to highway authorities to bid for support of the capital costs of such signing in their transport policies and programme submissions. They can then use the block of minor works expenditure that we accept each year for this purpose.
