§ Mr. GoodladThe research and development we are undertaking, in collaboration with our European partners, continues to provide encouraging evidence about the future potential of the fast reactor for electricity generation. The Government have always envisaged that the electricity supply industry would bear an increasing share of the cost of this programme as it progressed towards the commercial phase. I am pleased to announce that, from 1987–88, the CEGB will fund some 30 per cent. of the AEA programme.
