§ Mrs. CurrieThe Department's Social Services Inspectorate has been carrying out a two-year study of the effects of the new legislation on registration and inspection of residential care homes which took effect on 1 January 1985. The study will also take into account the operation by local authorities of "Home Life", the code of practice for residential care drawn up by an independent working party under the auspices of the Centre for Policy on Ageing and commended as guidance by my right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for Social Services and Wales. The inspectorate's report is expected early next year.
