HC Deb 17 November 1986 vol 105 c17W
Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Minister of Agriculture Fisheries and Food (1) of the measurements taken of the radioactivity levels in sheep and cattle thyroids on 14 and 21 June, what was the highest level of radioactivity measured; and if he will make a statement;

(2) when he intends to publish the full details of measurements made on 14 and 21 June of radioactivity levels in sheep and cattle thyroids.

Mr. Donald Thompson

I assume the hon. Member is referring to levels of short-lived radioiodine found in samples of sheep and cattle thyroids taken on 14 and 21 May. The results of testing were published in the data issued by my Department on 30 May, a copy of which is in the Library of the House. They show that meat from the same animals contained very low levels of radioiodine and radiocaesium.
