HC Deb 17 November 1986 vol 105 c22W
Mr. Steen

asked the Secretary of State for Transport when he intends to phase out chapter 2 aircraft, suitably hushkitted, belonging to British companies; and if he will set out in tabular form his proposed timetable.

Mr. Michael Spicer

No decisions have been taken on the long and expensive process of phasing out chapter 2 aeroplanes, either on United Kingdom or foreign registers. The question of phasing out chapter 2 aeroplanes is a matter which is still under international discussion.

Mr. Steen

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make it his policy to permit chapter 2 aircraft in British ownership to continue flying in and out of British airports until such time as foreign airlines have to comply with the same noise regulations.

Mr. Michael Spicer

I will answer this question shortly.
