§ Mr. Ashleyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether the application form for a vaccine damage payment asks for information on (a) what vaccine is alleged to have caused the damage and (b) when the vaccination took place.
§ Mr. Ashleyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many vaccine damage payments have been made in each year since payments began which relate to vaccination which was solely or partly for whooping cough; in each year, what were the dates of the whooping cough vaccination related to the awards that were made; and in how many cases each year this information was not available, and why.
§ Mr. LyellThe available information is contained in the following tables. Table 1 shows the number of awards of a vaccine damage payment made in each year in which the claimant stated that the vaccination was pertussis or included a pertussis element. Table 2 gives the total number of awards made under the Vaccine Damage Payments Act 1979, analysed by year in which the vaccination was stated by the claimant to have taken place.
Information to relate the number of awards in which the claimant stated the vaccination was pertussis or included a pertussis element to the year of vaccination is no readily available and could be extracted only at disproportionate cost.
