§ Mr. Ron Daviesasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many studies for integrated development operations have been completed to date in Britain; and what were the areas concerned.
§ Mr. Giles ShawIntegrated operations are a European Community initiative. The European Commission have contributed towards the cost of a number of studies by consultants to examine the possibilities for integrated operations. In Britain, such studies have been completed for
Strathclyde, Clwyd, Merseyside, Humberside, Bradford and the Isles of Scilly. In addition, the Welsh Office prepared a pilot document concerning industrial south Wales. Integrated operations have been implemented for Belfast and for the Western Isles of Scotland, but in those cases there were no prior studies by consultants.
