asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are satisfied that Brixton prison is operating efficiently, especially as on Saturday 25th October there were 30 prison officers below authorised level and on Monday 27th October there were 65 officers on outside court duties and 48 officers absent sick.

Staff at HM Prison Brixton do a sound, professional job in the face of considerable pressures. To assist the establishment over current difficulties a number of additional staff have been provided on a detached duty basis
