Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement about proposals made to him by Birmingham city council and the private sector for an urban development agency.

Mr. John Patten

Birmingham city council and representatives from the private sector presented outline proposals to my right hon. Friend on 30 July 1986. I look forward to seeing details of the alternative proposals which the city have been discussing with the private sector as soon as they are available.
