§ Lord Grimondasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether they have approved the use of the word "trustee" in the title of the Trustee Savings Bank.
§ The Secretary of State for Employment (Lord Young of Graffham)As the existing trustee savings banks currently take their title from the Trustee Savings Banks Act 1981, I assume that the noble Lord has in mind the names of the successor banks envisaged in the Trustee Saving Banks Act 1985. The White Paper (Cmnd 9415) and the Government's statements in the debates which preceded the 1985 Act clearly reflected the Government's view that the538WA choice of names was a matter for the trustee savings banks themselves but that the use of "trustee" would be unobjectionable.
