§ Mr. Tony Lloydasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he make a statement on the priorities of the victims support scheme.
§ Mr. MellorThe victims support movement does valuable work as a voluntary service providing practical and emotional support to the victims of crime. The determination of priorities must be a matter for the movement itself, in consultation with the police and other services with which local schemes are closely involved. The Government will continue to encourage victims support by providing financial assistance to the National Association of Victims Support Schemes and, under various central Government programmes, to some local schemes.
