§ Mr. Mark RobinsonUnder the provisions of the Registered Homes Act 1984 the registration and inspection of private and voluntary residential care homes is the responsibility of local authority social services departments. For private and voluntary nursing homes the responsibility rests with district health authorities. The numbers of staff required by each authority to carry out their inspection duties under the Act is a matter for them to determine. No information is available centrally of the numbers of such staff in Wales.
