§ Mr. Alan ClarkImports of wool from Australia between 1981 and 1984 averaged approximately 10,000 tonnes per annum, but rose to 24,000 tonnes in 1985. However, these figures are not directly comparable with those of United Kingdom consumption, owing to differences of defination. It is estimated that imports of Australian wool accounted for approximately 20 per cent. of the United Kingdom industry consumption in 1985.
