Mr. John David Taylorasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if a patrolman has now been appointed to assist pupils to cross the main Belfast/Saintfield roads to attend St. Joseph's primary school, Carryduff; if there was any difficulty in attracting applicants for this position; and if he is in a position to state the sources of salary for the person appointed to carry out the responsibilities of patrolman.
§ Dr. MawhinneyA patrolman was appointed in 1981 and remains in post. Any question concerning difficulty in attracting applicants to the post does not, therefore, arise at present. As an employee of the South-Eastern education and library board, his wages are paid by that board.

§ Dr. MawhinneyAnnual enrolments have fluctuated within a range of 263 to 310 pupils; the current enrolment of 294 (January 1986) is almost identical to that of 10 years ago (296). There are no specific proposals for additional road safety measures in the vicinity of the school.
