Member for Yyns Môn of 28 April, Official Report, column 310, what extra £ million resources have been notified to him that the police will be allocating during the drink-driving enforcement campaign in May and June.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleyThe current focus on drinking and driving was planned in close consultation with the police. We have not assumed that individual chief officers will be increasing the level of enforcement during the publicity period. The focus is designed to increase awareness that drinking and driving is dangerous and a problem throughout the year. The police, through the traffic committee of the Association of Chief Police Officers, have welcomed this approach as an aid to their own year-round enforcement effort against drinking and driving.
