§ Mr. Chris PattenI refer the hon. Member to the reply my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State gave him on 21 January 1986, at columns157–64, for information for the academic years 1979–80 and 1984–85. My hon. Friend will write to the hon. Member with figures for the remaining years on the same basis. Figures for pupils at independent schools cannot be given because information about their local education authority of normal residence is not collected centrally.
